IHM Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\nA fundamental requirement of these regulations is the documentation of hazardous materials on board ships, the so-called Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM)<\/strong> which must be verified either by the Ship\u2019s Flag Administration or by the ship\u2019s Recognized Organization authorized by it, accompanied by the relevant IHM Statement of Compliance (SOC) or relevant Certificate.<\/p>\nAll EU flagged ships and non-EU flagged ships which are calling at EU ports or anchorages would need an IHM report with a valid Certificate onboard, from 31st\u00a0December 2020 (above 500Gross tonnage).<\/p>\n
Legal Framework<\/strong><\/p>\nTwo regulations are presently governing the necessary actions:<\/p>\n
\n- Regulation (EU) No. 1257\/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 November 2013 on Ship Recycling (EU SRR)<\/li>\n
- Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009 SR\/CONF\/45 (HKC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
