Benefits of regular inspection<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to avoid unplanned downtime and to ensure uninterrupted operation, it is highly recommended to arrange a regular inspection of the rubber elements<\/strong>.
\nSize, geometry and material characteristics are relevant for the transmission of torque. Due to different operating conditions and the resulting stress, signs of use will inevitably show on the elements during operation.
\nIn this respect, our Principals Messrs. Rexnord CENTA<\/strong> suggest following inspection process of the rubber elements:<\/p>\n

Surface assessment<\/strong>
\nThe rubber surfaces harden and become porous due to external factors (e.g. heat or ozone). This may result in fine diamond shaped cracks and a change of Shore hardness.
\nThese signs of wear do not represent any impairment of the transmission capacity. Nevertheless visual inspections are recommended:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. after 1000 operating hours<\/li>\n
  2. after 4000 operating hours<\/li>\n
  3. thereafter every 6000 operating hours or annually (whichever is shorter time span).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Preventive treatment of cracks<\/strong>
    \nPronounced signs of wear, such as deep cracks, impair torque transmission by reduction of the cross section.
    \nDiamond-shaped cracks and cross cracks on the surface of the element are no problem, yet they have to be checked in intervals. Direct exposure to ozone or heat should be avoided by all means.
    \nTherefore it is recommended to round off cracks using a highspeed milling cutter or belt sander (coarse, mediumor fine grain). After rounding off a protective surface coating must be applied.<\/p>\n
