Recent IMO MEPC83 decisions impose stricter fuel-data requirements with fuel consumption reporting split by consumer groups for IMO DCS, EU/UK MRV and FuelEU verification schemes.
The new requirement will take effect from 1 January 2026 for most ships and upon delivery for newbuildings delivered on or after 1^st of August 2025.

Key fuel-related points are:

• Granular fuel split now mandatory – every vessel must log consumption by Main Engine, Auxiliary Engine, Boiler and Other consumers, and further divide totals into “Underway” (Begin of Sea Passage and End of Sea Passage events) and “Not Underway” periods.

• Revised SEEMP Part II required – a SEEMP II aligned with the 2024 Guidelines and a new Confirmation of Compliance must be on board before 1 January 2026.

• Future-proofing for 2028 GFI Standard – owners are encouraged to start recording IMO Fuel Pathway Codes in bunker reports to ease future compliance.
